The AJADGC is the brainchild of Shelley and Don Scott.  Their passion for junior golf is obvious and contagious.  Shelley spent many years as the organiser of the Summer Junior Golf Classic and the CQ Junior Open, but in our opinion her greatest golf achievement is this tournament. Shelley and Don started the AJADGC at Capricorn Resort in Yeppoon.  Their desire was to create a major event for the many talented junior golfers throughout Queensland and Australia, where children could compete against players their own age.  As the event grew, it was moved to RACV Royal Pines Golf Resort, where it has remained ever since.  Due to Shelley and Don’s commitment to Junior Golf, the event now attracts a capacity field and is the qualifying event for 3 international championships.

After 10 years Shelley and Don have decided to take a step back to focus on family and work commitments, but never fear, Shelley will continue to be an integral part of this event and we will continue seeing her smiling face at Royal Pines.

So who is stepping up?  Well, we are – Karen and Matt Martin.  Here’s a little about us.

We discovered the golf world when our daughter started playing at the age of 5.  We’ve lost count of the number of events and golf courses we’ve walked around watching her play. 10 years ago, when Emily was 11, she competed in the first ever AJADGC at Yeppoon.  And we met Shelley and Don.  We have been friends ever since.   Even though Emily is now 21 and at University in America, this event remains very close to our heart.  In fact, if it wasn’t for Shelley and Don, Emily most likely wouldn’t be in America playing golf right now.  The impact of this event is that big.  Karen has been Shelley’s “right hand man” since the event moved to Royal Pines, and Matt is always on hand to help out on the course. We both have a background in sports event management and a strong desire to continue to provide the opportunity for junior golfers of all ages and abilities to be able to compete in the biggest tournament of its kind in Australia.

We look forward to seeing you at the next event!

Need Help out on Course?

Don’t go to Google!!!  Our Officials are there to take the stress out.

The following accredited rules officials are out on course to offer friendly assistance when balls go in hazards, and things don’t go to plan. These people volunteer their time to support our event, for which we are extremely grateful.
