Q & A Time with Harry Preece,

our youngest 2017 team member who was the 5-6 Boys Champion at World Stars of Junior Golf in Las Vegas, a fantastic achievement of which we are all very proud.

Name:- Harrison (Harry) Preece

Age:- 7

What is your Home Club? Hunter Valley Golf Club & The Vintage Golf Club. I play in the comps with my Dad and uncle at Hunter Valley Golf Club and am a part of The Vintage Junior Golf Foundation where I get lessons from Richard Mercer Golf.

Handicap (if applicable): 26.3

How long have you been playing golf for? I started hitting balls as soon as I could walk but started competitions when I was 4.

Do you have a favourite player? I have 3- Dylan Perry, Jack Wilson & Ricky Fowler

What is your favourite thing about the Australian Junior Age Division Championships? I made lots of friends last year (at the tournament) and get to play with them again. I also like that it goes for 3 days and the competition is really well run

What are the courses like in America? How are they different to Australia? Paiute was awesome. It was in the middle of the desert but the fairways were so green and soft. Don’t go out-of-bounds though otherwise you’re in the desert!

What was the best part of being part of the Australian team? Going to America with the team and making new friends

What were the players from overseas like? Did you make any new friends? They were really friendly. I played with Kevin from China at both events and even though we we didn’t speak the same language, we got along really well, had fun and loved playing golf together. I also became friends with Josiah from the USA.

Do you think competing in America helped your golf? Yes, the courses were hard so it challenged me and the trip made me love golf even more

What are your golfing goals this year? To shoot better scores and not let a bad shot get in my head. I want to keep doing NED- Never give up, Encourage others, Do your best
